Prison Ain't The Only Place You Get Kicked Awake

It's astounding how someone who used to take up so little space now takes up so much. The Husband and I got kicked awake at about 6 am this morning by The Son, whom it seems can only sleep if he is lying on top of the blanket and upside down. On a good day, he sleeps at a right angle to both of us, which means one of us will get head butted while the other one gets kicked in the face as he thrashes about in his sleep. I don't know which is better.

We routinely wake up before the alarm (set at 7 am) nowadays which is a miracle in itself.

So The Son don't sleep alone in the cot?

Isn't it supposed to be a bad habit to allow kids to sleep with their parents (according to parenting books)?

Maybe I am wrong since I haven't any kids myself.;)

I do loathe the day where my personal is so much dominated by my child/children that I don't even have my own sleeping space that I could lie down or romp in peace ;)

My C has this uncanny ability of waking us up only on weekends! On schooldays, we normally have to coax her out of bed.

Minx- C does exactly the same thing and sleeps with her head on my side. In fact, she has an unusually cruel streak and gets a kick outta kicking her Dad in the morning and sometimes through the night!

It's nature's biggest con. When they're just born, they're like little puppies all squirmy, warm and cute, so you want to have them sleep next to you and snuggle.

Then they get bigger and kick you in the face, but by that time, they're so used to sleeping with you that they can't sleep any other way. So you either put up with the crying and screaming (because they don't want to sleep alone in their own bed) or you tolerate the head butts and face kicks.

But they're still cute. Like bigger puppies.

I guess ;)

My dog sleeps with us and has the habit of wanting to sleep on either one of our feet or leg and we don't have the heart to kick her away so we remain "strait-jacketed" most of the time until she decides to move on because she wants to have the other bed to herself or that she would like to sleep on our pile of clean laundry...;)

As for her own bed, that's reserved for day naps...;(

And she's already nine years old.. And forever a cute puppy in our eyes...;)

aaaahhh......sweetest parents ever. isn't it just so nice to know that we take such super care of our babies allowing even the intrusive act of co-sleeping? tis how it all should be all the time......but how gross for non-parents to chance upon these comments. way boring for them! I get the legs all the time btw - is the more domineering parent the leg-receiver? I've been so peeved before that I wake up ranting like a mad dog and end up crawling into his bed to sleep instead. (this is a toddler bed mind you....)
